ABOUT
THE STORY
The Tayēr station was originally designed by Alex Kratena and Monica Berg for their bar, Tayēr + Elementary in London. From the beginning, Monica and Alex challenged themselves with creating a station that could move and change with the bartender, the menu and seasons. Looking to nature for inspiration, they found the hexagonal shape could be the flexible, yet functional, solution they were looking for.
DESIGNERS: MONICA
Monica Berg is a London based multi-award winning bartender and entrepreneur. Her work includes Muyu liqueurs and London bar(s) Tayēr + Elementary with partner Alex Kratena.
She is the co-founder of P(OUR), an industry non-profit and charity, and her latest project, BackOfHouse, is a free, online resource for small businesses to get anonymous feedback from their teams, and where employees can flag harmful behaviour, discrimination and harassment.
In 2020 Monica Berg and Alex Kratena won the Bar Innovators Of The Year Award by Class Magazine and during Covid19 crisis launched Tayēr RTD; a collection of ready to drink bottled cocktails, which bring together the best of classics and contemporary flavours.
DESIGNERS: ALEX
Alex Kratena is a multi-award winning bartender, liquid creator and entrepreneur.
Co-founder of the drinks industry non-profit organisation P(OUR), he has co-created Muyu Liqueurs and the Tayēr RTD pre-batched cocktail range.
After leading the Artesian bar to four consecutive ‘World’s Best Bar’ awards, Alex and partner Monica Berg opened their London venue, Tayēr + Elementary, in 2019.
COLLABORATION
Together Alex and Monica conceptualised the hexagonal Tayēr system, and in collaboration with Behind Bars brought the concept to life.
The original hexagon station, which forms the basis for the Tayēr Series from Behind Bars, stands proudly in the centre of Tayēr + Elementary in London.
The Tayēr station collaboration has grown even more in the past few years with the development of two different Tayēr stations available to the industry— The original Tayēr bar, the Tayēr Double, and a new smaller single station option, the Tayēr Single.
